Our History
Our history as profit Developers in Real Estate sales and services has given us the ability and the know how to establish and provide affordable housing through new construction of rental housing, remodeling and or renovating, purchasing and or leasing options. Today our focus is on affordable housing for a much needed and less fortunate group of individuals. We have taken many children off the streets by finding them suitable housing in transitional housing, shelters and reputable families whose motto must have been, “there’s always room for one more.”
The A.E.H. staff has worked with numerous community outreach programs, volunteer home and foreign missions, counseling, literacy tutoring, jail, hospital and sick and shut-ins visitations. We have organized local help groups servicing areas between Bakersfield, Kern, Fresno and Los Angeles Counties. Our staff has also dealt with such trauma incidents as drug abuse, rape, fear, guilt, depression, suicide and thoughts of suicide, incest and sexual abuse, incarceration, community uprising (gang banging) and personality issues such as the giving and the receiving of love, and self-motivation. We can provide grief counseling and also assist with funeral services and arrangements.
A.E.H. has a goal to help youth that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to find affordable permanent housing, continuing education and employment. It is important to us to have these individuals transition peacefully into a stable housing environment. The problem is that these young men and women do not have the support network that most young people have. Many are foster care youth that have aged out of the foster care system or for whatever reason; they do not have familial, social or economic support.
We are in the heart of planning, pre-development, development implementation, and start-up expansion period for our Affordable Housing and Independent Living Programs Center. We see the availability of housing as a tool.
Our goal is to develop our own housing facilities for permanent placement of youth in transition.
A.E.H. is fervently working to develop its own gated community and housing facilities. Our team is resistant to the Flop house mentality. Some of these young people have never had a room to themselves. Many have never had anything to call their own, not even space.
Currently we assist the youth by helping them to become responsible for their own living expenses. Until we acquire or build our own facilities our goal is to continue to help homeless young adults secure their own independent apartments, boarding rooms, or roommates. In some cases they have to reside in housing provided by families, local churches or transitional/emergency shelters until they are able to find or afford permanent housing. We help those who want work to find jobs, careers and those who need low-income housing to find an appropriate, safe place to live. We will provide referrals and information, emotional and social support. To help the youth become self-sufficient; not to take care of them.
This is a Community outreach project. Our activities assist in alleviating the full burden of poverty and homelessness from the government. By also providing emergency essentials such as counseling, stress management, food, clothing, and shelter for at-risk youth, we too shoulder some of the responsibility for mankind.
A youth in need of housing is a youth who is unable to provide him/herself a basic life necessity. We link emotional needs, educational and career promotion to our housing programs to assure that our youth become equipped to meet adult challenges successfully.
We too imagine a just and equitable society for all, where all children are nurtured to become compassionate, responsible and self-reliant adults; where families are engaged in the life of their communities, the nation, and the world; and where people take responsibility for meeting today's needs as well as those of future generations.
